People laugh, but then they stand by the window watching the birds. It was 15 degrees but the birds still took a bath. I wonder if they catch a chill afterwards... I measured the heater at 75watts. This shallow pan needs refilling more often, but I'm sure the birds like getting fresh water more often. Is there an unheated bath for the summer? I don't like the idea of the heated unit baking in the summer heat.

This heated bird bath works well and attracts birds and any other thirsty critters outside. It's not very deep (well, no worries of birds drowning taking a bath), so you'll have to fill it daily which I would do anyway to keep the water fresh. The only complaint I have is that the 6-inch cord is ridiculous. I have it on the ground RIGHT up against the covered outside power source so I'm fortunate I can make it work, but if you can't do this you'll need an extension cord and it tells you NOT to use one. It's a shame that such a nice product is compromised because the manufacturer is too cheap or too clueless to put at LEAST a 2-foot cord on it. I think people would be willing to pay a little bit more for a longer cord - honestly how much could that have cost to do?? I wouldn't use an extension cord with it because I do not want the connection point exposed to the elements. Bottom line: I'd recommend purchasing this ONLY if you can have it right against the power source the way I have it set up.

Comments about Farm Innovators Ground Heated Bird Bath:

I have the bird bath out on my deck and it looks great. I initially hooked it up with the Christmas lights and it didn't work, but when I hooked the extension cord directly to the house it worked perfect. No ice during a long span of subzero weather! Nice compliment to my bird feeders.

Comments about Farm Innovators Ground Heated Bird Bath:

I bought this just for winter...since i live in ohio and obviously it freezes here. i wanted to give my birds water and this seemed like a smart choice for my price point. i agree the cord is absurdly short. like, why? reason please?

i know it says don't use an extension cord...but i do. i took my dad's advice and wrapped the part where the two cords connect with electrical tape, so the elements wouldn't hurt it. i hope he's right! i do have an outdoor outlet....but it's about 18 inches or more above the ground....so the 7 inch cord wouldn't work. that's the only major problem. no, it's not too deep....i am not sure i've seen any birds bathe yet. they do drink though. i may even keep it on my patio in the summer!

Comments about Farm Innovators Ground Heated Bird Bath:

This is on the floor of my balcony and is easy to empty and keep clean and the birds love it. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to give the birds drinking water in the winter when I moved here, but with this bath, the birds and I will be happy all winter.

Comments about Farm Innovators Ground Heated Bird Bath:

I was excited to get this bird bath into use. To date, not one single bird has ventured in for a dip. The shallowness of the vessel m with a slightly raised center, doesn't allow for much water. With only a small amount of water, it evaporates very quickly. I'll give it another month then probably retire it to the garage....sale
