Description

Able to operate on just pennies a day, the Farm Innovators Four Seasons Ground Heated Bird Bath features a coating of sand, offering birds a textured surface to grip. The raised edges of the bath give it the look of a natural rock formation, allowing it to blend in with your outdoor environment.


The 1.75" depth offers a full bath for small songbirds, or just enough water for large birds to have a drink. The heating element rests underneath the bath and is thermostatically controlled to operate only when the temperature nears or drops below freezing. The 14" cord uses any electrical outlet for power, and safely tucks into grooves on the underside of the bath when not in use.

    I have the bath on a plastic patio table, not the ground. It's outside our Garden Room window. The sand finish makes it so much easier for them to hang on. Some of the smaller birds are even wading in the shallow end now. Interesting note: the birds are eating the sand off the bath while they're perched on the edge. Feeding their little gizzards and washing it down. I only gave it four stars because it hasn't been cold enough to see how it will work in a Minnesota winter. We've had a few days below freezing and it has done well.

    I dunno... Not crazy about this one.

    The inside of the bath is sloped so I can't put enough water to fill one end as it spills out the other. The water temp is high enough that it evaporates quickly and requires a refill daily. The bath surface is rough (like coarse sandpaper) and is difficult to clean. The birds don't seem crazy about it, either. They prefer the other two baths (one in a stand and the other mounted on the deck railing).

      We purchased this with the thought that a lot of birds that don't use the heated bird bath on the pedestal stand would use this as it is on the ground -- and they do -- but we didn't think about the fact that squirrels, stray cats, and other small animals would use it, too -- and they do! I won't be surprised to see deer at it one day! It is a great product and we are very, very pleased with it.
