I really do love this birbath! [...] I was pleasantly surprised to see that when you place the top bowl on the pedestal, you twist the bowl and it locks into the base. It's easy to take off for cleaning (just twist while applying a little upward pressure). The glazed inside makes the bowl easy to clean. It looks great, and most important, the birds started using it after just a few days!

I care for a colony of feral cats in my yard, which is adjacent to a bird sanctuary. I also have raccoons, deer, etc and they all drink out of the bird bath even though I have water bowls outside. It was CRUCIAL for me to have a locking-top bird bath so that the top would not flip over onto an animal if it leaned or jumped on the bird bath to drink. This bird bath is just perfect. It's light weight and easy to carry and move around the yard, yet it's sturdy and doesn't wobble. There is a metal pin cemented into the basin bottom that fits into the pedestal and locks in place with a twisting action. The basin is nicely glazed so it resists staining and the color (I got the "wood" color) is a beautiful natural sand color with subtle greenish accents. The design is nice "live" than in the web photo. I am very pleased with all aspects of this item and if this one happens to break (I have lost many bird baths to freezing! I forget to take them in when we get the first sub freezing temps!), I would certainly buy this product again.
