The durable hand-finished Standing or Hanging Terra Cotta Bird Bath features a lead-free glaze, which makes it easy to clean. This is the third unit that I have ordered: one for me, one for my Dad, and a new one for me. I owned the beautiful Opus ceramic birdbath for over 10 years, but had to replace it when it was broken by a large coconut falling from my tree. I now have it placed a little farther from the tall, coconut-bearing trees, and my bird friends have given their seal of approval!

This product's was designed to hang or to put in the ground, however the stake to put in to ground is not very sturdy, nor does it look very good. When assembled to stake in the ground, the terra cotta bowl is crooked and slanted. The supplies to hang and or put in the ground are very cheap.

    I thought the stand would be wobbly but its sturdier than you think. Think I need to buy the device that bubbles / circulates the water in order to keep it fresher longer and to attract the birds.

    instructions showed hanging a milk bottle above it with a small hole to leak and splash in it to attract birds. I need to find a location under a tree to do that.

      I was looking for a non-pedestal birdbath for use in my yard, one with glazing for ease of cleaning, and this one from Opus fills the bill nicely. It was easy and intuitive to assemble (I chose not to use the hanging feature), and luckily my ground was wet, so the single post (actually three legs encased in a cap) slid into the ground easily. (Will it come out of the ground later without losing the cap? We'll see.) My only suggestion for improvement would be a slightly wider choice in glaze colors, but color is a minor point - ease of cleaning is one of three reasons I chose this one, the budget price and the single post being the other. It definitely isn't a decoration, but then I bought it for the birds, not to dress up the back yard, and it should function well for that purpose.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

        I'm having work done on my patio, so it's not safe to set the bird bath up yet. Therefore, I do not know if it will attract the birds or set up easily. It doesn't look like it will be difficult to set up. (Mine's a standup birdbath...not a hanging one.) But it's beautiful.

        The hanging attachments had to be modified in order for them to hold the bath.
        Birds will not take a bath in it. They occasionally get a drink, but that is all.
        Wish I could return it.
